Apollo 12: The Daring Lunar Exploration Mission


On November 14, 1969, just four months after the awe-inspiring success of Apollo 11, NASA launched its second manned mission to the Moon—Apollo 12. While often overshadowed by its predecessor, Apollo 12 achieved significant milestones and left an indelible mark on the history of space exploration. The Crew:

After spending approximately 7 hours and 45 minutes on the lunar surface, the crew of Apollo 12 successfully rendezvoused with the Command Module "Yankee Clipper" and began their journey back to Earth. On November 24, 1969, the crew splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean, where they were retrieved by the USS Hornet.
